What is Kaolin Soil?

Kaolin is a white, flexible, soft clay mineral, composed of Kaolinite and some other minerals such as Illite, Montmorillonite, quartz arranged in loose aggregates, in which Kaolinite determines the type of structure and architecture. by Kaolin. Kaolin has the main mineral composition of Kaolinite, with the formula Al2O3.2SiO2.2H2O or Al4(OH) 8Si4O10. When heated, Kaolinite has an endothermic effect of about 510-600 oC, related to the loss of water of crystallization and the phenomenon of mineral amorphism. Two exothermic effects of 960-1,000 oC and 1,200 oC are related to the mulitification of amorphous Kaolinite products, with the 1,200 oC effect being the crystallization of amorphous silicon oxide to form Cristobalite. The crystals (granules) of Kaolinite are usually white, sometimes red, brown or light green. They are cotton crystals (snow-like) or small slabs with a hexagonal shape, or radiating sheets in the form of piles or solid blocks.
